At YEOUTH, we believe that beauty is more than skin deep. It is found in the strength,
resilience, and real-life experiences of the people who use our products every day. That is why we created Real People. Real Stories. A space to share the inspiring journeys, challenges,
and life lessons of our YEOUTH community.
These are not skincare testimonials. They are stories of growth, self-love, and transformation told by real people, for real people. Whether it is a moment of personal triumph, a fresh start, or a powerful lesson learned, each story is a reminder that we are all in this journey together.
Welcome to a place where beauty meets authenticity
Real People. Real Stories.
Supporting Midlife Skin with Compassion and Understanding
Hi, I’m Kim Mackenzie, a licensed esthetician dedicated to supporting women through the evolving needs of midlife skin. I view this season not as something to correct, but as a meaningful transition where intentional, thoughtful care can truly transform how skin looks, feels, and functions.
In my practice, I create a calm, reassuring space where women can better understand what their skin is communicating and rebuild confidence in its natural abilities. I want every woman in midlife to know that what she’s experiencing is real, rooted in physiological change, not personal failure, and that with the right guidance and a focus on long-term skin health, this chapter can be one of renewal, resilience, and genuine comfort in her own skin.
What first inspired you to focus specifically on midlife skin? Was there a personal story behind that decision?
What first drew me to this work was deeply personal. Experiencing my own hair loss during midlife became a turning point. It pushed me to look more closely at how hormonal shifts affect not only the skin but also the scalp, hair health, and a woman’s sense of identity.
That journey sparked a deeper curiosity and a long-term commitment to understanding midlife skin and hair changes from the inside out. It became clear to me that women in this season deserve more than surface-level solutions. They deserve informed, compassionate care.
What is one common myth about aging or hormonal skin changes you wish more women understood?
Through my work with midlife women, I’ve seen how often they’re told that their concerns are “normal” without being given real education or support. One of the biggest myths I wish more women understood is that aging or hormonal skin changes equal decline or inevitability.
In reality, midlife skin is not broken. It’s responding to internal shifts and often needs a gentler, more strategic approach, not stronger products or harsh, aggressive treatments. When we respect the skin barrier, support its physiology, and simplify where needed, we often see more balance and radiance, not less.
Can you share a memorable client moment that reminded you why this work truly matters?
Creating a safe, unhurried space for midlife skin is central to my work, a space where women feel heard, not dismissed. Where we protect the skin barrier, support the scalp, and work with the skin’s natural processes rather than against them.
Some of the most meaningful moments in my practice have come from clients who arrive feeling frustrated, discouraged, or unseen and leave feeling understood and hopeful. Sometimes the biggest shift isn’t in the mirror right away, but in their sense of relief. Those moments remind me that this work reaches far beyond the surface
How has working with midlife women changed your own perspective on aging, beauty, or self-worth?
Working with midlife women has transformed my own perspective on aging and beauty. I’ve seen, time and again, that confidence doesn’t come from chasing youth. It comes from feeling informed, supported, and at home in your skin as it changes.
There is a quiet strength in this chapter, even when it feels unfamiliar. When women are given tools, knowledge, and compassionate care, aging begins to feel less like loss and more like an evolution.

What would you say to a woman who feels discouraged, invisible, or disconnected from her skin right now?
What I would say to any woman who feels discouraged, invisible, or disconnected from her skin right now is this: you are not imagining what you’re experiencing, and you did not do anything wrong.
These changes are physiological, not personal. With the right care, education, and support, your skin and your confidence can feel steady, supported, and resilient again. You deserve to feel seen, heard, and cared for in this season of life.
